About Judy Gepp, New Jersey Spa Reiki Practitioner
For those who are who are unfamiliar with this ancient form of energy medicine, Rei means higher knowledge or spiritual consciousness and ki represents the life energy that flows through all living things. Reiki practitioners access this universal life force to bring about a state of balance and relaxation in their clients through techniques that are similar to a light massage. Sometimes no touch is involved at all.
Judy Gepp became a Reiki practitioner in 1996. Her first client had a brain tumor and from then on, cancer patients seemed to be placed in her path. Currently, a large percentage of Judy's clients are diagnosed with some form of cancer. In 1998, Judy began teaching Reiki. With twenty-five years of teaching experience behind her, instructing others on Reiki techniques was a natural progression. Judy not only promotes and encourages a journey of self-healing for her students, she serves as a mentor, making herself available for any questions students might have as they go on to develop healing practices of their own.
In addition to Reiki treatments, Judy also empowers her clients by giving them the tools for healing, including progressive relaxation, meditation, and self-hypnosis techniques. Judy suggests that these tools have helped her clients to manage their stress and respond more favorably to medical treatment. "We all have stressful lives,"Judy says, "but when someone is diagnosed with cancer their whole life is turned upside down, which dramatically increases their stress levels. This prohibits the body's innate capacity to heal." Judy reports that by becoming aware of stress and using the appropriate tools, clients begin to react differently to the stressors in their lives, including jobs, relationships, and illness. Ultimately, clients find that they become more balanced and centered. This creates an emerging sense of presence or awareness, which helps people to open up and become more cognizant of how much their emotions impact their bodies. Judy states, "Energy work can't be described, it has to be experienced."
Judy believes that the responsibility of someone struggling with an illness is to do as much as they can for themselves to heal. She states, "The importance of the body-mind connection becomes apparent when complimentary modalities are learned and applied to maintain balance and to promote healing, not only physically, but emotionally and spiritually."
Judy Gepp practices Reiki at Senseabilities in Manasquan, where she also facilitates meditation workshops along with relaxation and guided imagery sessions.
